Thalaivaa controversy and it's delay in release are well documented and till date remains one of the strangest incidents in Kollywood. Director Vijay opened on the incident stating " I was completely helpless and it was the darkest day in my life". Vijay added that no one should ever undergo such pain like Thalaivaa team did during release.
The Madrasapattinam director went on to add that by the time the problems were sorted out, pirated copies were already flooded in market and they were completely helpless to do something about it, He went on to add on how Actor Vijay also expressed his regret over the incident.
Kollywood insiders report that Ilayathalapathy Vijay did compensate for the loss suffered during the Thalaiva issue by giving back a part of his salary. Only Superstar Rajinikanth has previously compensated for the loss in Baba.
